It's almost 10am. Just came back from a 9-hour graveyard shift but I'm still not sleepy. Three hours to go for catching nap and a 2pm bus to Laguna before we get enmeshed in rally-related traffic.
Yes, today is the start of yet another anti-Gloria rally, and I couldn't care less.
It's almost an affliction -- young people like me getting excited, and losing sleep over a party than getting concerned about the nation's ills.
I think we've grown to be a tired bunch, that's why. And disappointed, at that. Having marched in 2001 for EDSA 2 with much vigor, and hope, and idealism -- and getting none of those rewarded 7 years hence -- who are you guys kidding???
MLQ3 may not agree on this but hear me when I say that WE cannot change the system by unseating a President only nor by marching in the streets.
Corruption has been deeply ingrained in our governments, in our systems, in our psyches. It's an elephant in the room that fucking nobody would care to kick for fear of getting trampled.
If there's one brave, genius soul who'll cry for abolishment of this fucked-up-system-of-governance we've-grown-so-tired-with-it-makes-us-puke in favor of a NEW system that would actually work to "kill" all the buwayas -- hell yeah -- I'd go marching and dancing down the street with you. I might even don an outlandish outfit for media mileage. And que horror of all que horrors -- forego a night of once-every-four-years kissing my sacred UPLB grounds!
More than anything, I wish I'd be that one brave, genius soul, dammit, so I wouldn't have to settle to just writing and cussing in futility.
But I'm just your average working class girl that needs to shop, giggle, flirt, party, and watch marathon pirated DVDs of US series.
I have no time for shits like this.
